"Have had the ASI installed for about 75 hours now, and am completely happy with it -- works just as you predicted. Now let me tell you a little story.
Last Wednesday, I flew my favorite flight -- I have a Cherokee Six, and with all the seats removed, and the airplane stuffed to the gills with toys, I flew 300 miles down into Baja and delivered them to a medical clinic there for their annual Christmas Party. Now if you have kids or grand kids, you are probably aware that there are a million toys out there that make weird sounds when they're moved; crazy laughter, Jingle Bells from a music box, ducks that go quqack quack etc. After landing on that rough dirt strip, the airplane was a cacophony of sound. Again when we unloaded the bags, the crazy noise was awesome. The very last bag split open, so I scrambled around picking up the scattered toys; when they were all in the truck, I slammed the airplane door, vaguely aware that there must still be one toy left in there because I could hear it. I opened the door again, and there was no toy -- it was the ASI --- the battery switch was still ON.
We were gone three hours from the airstrip -- long enough to kill the battery if it had been left on.. Have you ever come out to your airplane late in the afternoon, on a dirt strip nine miles from the nearest paved road and 300 miles south of the US border, with absolutely no-one around to help, and found your battery dead? I really love my ASI."
